Meal Prep & Chill?
We tell ourselves all the time, “I don’t have time to meal prep, I’m too busy!”
Okay, okay, the summer time can definitely be a busy time. However! Fall is approaching and so is school, normal work schedules and a somewhat normal schedule.
Most of us work during the day and have the weekends off. Some of us work while our kids are in school. Some of us work, while kids are in school and run to the gym after work, run home to cook dinner, help with homework and somehow find time to pee!
We get it! Life can get in the way.
However, what you put in your body shouldn’t get in the way of your goal to a healthier lifestyle.
I can assure you, meal prepping doesn’t have to be as strenuous as it sounds. You can even get the kids involved in some fun ways to pack their lunches for the week. This allows you time to prep your lunch and believe it or not, everyones breakfast AND dinners for the week!
How you may ask? Organization, a little time and planning, plus some meal planning hacks to help you along the way!
Let us start with the basics first. Don’t worry, we’ll go into detail later on!
Step 1: Get a menu
Once you set up a menu for the week (ie. breakfast and dinner, your lunch and the kids) you can prep your meals!
Step 2: Get your grocery list, coupons and shopping bags together
First, check your pantry and refrigerator/freezer to see what you already have. Sometimes we over buy and don’t realize what we have already! Make your grocery list and check for weekly sales and coupons! Be sure to use your money saving apps too!
Step 3: Have your portion containers and supplies
Step 4: ATTACK!
Step 5: Sit back, relax. YOU’VE BEEN PREPPED!
Just think of all the things you can do now with your extra time during the week!
How about the details?

Step 2: Part 2
Grocery lists and couponing, plus saving apps. Did you know that most stores offer weekly sales and coupons? They also have “manager specials” or “off the shelf” specials of fresh produce, boxed items and freezer foods that need to “get off the shelf” before they expire.
Coupons! There are websites, circulars and apps that have coupons for print, download and even cash back options after purchase.
You don’t need to spend an arm and a leg getting food storage containers for all of your prepping. Most of it can be done with what you already have or a quick trip to your local dollar store. You may even find snacks there!

Set asside one day of the week for yourself and your family to go grocery shopping and meal prep together. While in the store, your family can pick out their snacks for the week and what they’d like to prep with. Everyone can prep their own lunches (which saves you time) and you can attack breakfast and dinner!
Make sure you set aside grab and go items and package up left overs for quick go-to meals just incase!
Simple enough right?
YOU’RE PREPPED! Sit back and relax. You’ve prepped for the week. What are you doing to do with all your free time now? Maybe take a bubble bath or watch that movie you wanted to!
