A Healthy Gut, Means a Healthy...
Butt you may be saying, my gut is fine! (haha, butt, you see what I did there?)
Let’s face it, we all struggle with our digestion at one point or another. Might have been something you’ve eaten, something you drank, your sleep, didn’t exercise, ANYTHING can throw off your normal routine.
I just want you to think about something for a second, maybe it isn’t just those reasons, maybe what your body is telling you is that your “healthy” diet is the root of the problem.
Did you know that most people don’t consider their digestive health when they talk about their over all health and wellness? They just chalk it up to the occasional bloating or digestive/gut issue.
However, that may not be the case.
Some signs that you may be experiencing an out-of-wack gut are
For the occasional digestive problems, try this smoothie when you wake up!
An apple a day…
Butt, what if your “occasional” digestion isn’t occasional anymore? This could potentially be a sign of what is known as Leaky Gut Syndrome.
What is LGS you may ask? It’s a condition in which the lining of the small intestine becomes damaged, causing undigested food particles, toxic waste products and bacterial to “leak” through the intestines and flood the blood stream.
How do you know you may be suffering from LGS?
In the mean time, YOU CAN REBUILD YOUR GUT!
There are three foods that can help.1. Bone Broth (liquid or protein powder)
I’m not one to swear by anything, BUT THIS! Ya’ll know I suffer from a lot of food allergies and intolerances. Let me just say, since I started incorporating bone broth protein into my daily diet, I’ve noticed a significant difference in my digestions, my normal “routine”, and my hair, skin and nails.
Bone broth is full of gut-healing amino acids, healthy and soothing fats, plus packed with vitamins and minerals.
Actual bone broth can get a little pricy, however buying chicken bones from your local butcher allows you to prepare your own!
You can also try BB protein powder, I use these two brands; Ancient Nutrition (tons of flavors) and Sports Research
I just recently started to add this into my diet once a week. I’m not a huge fan of drinking it, just because I actually like to eat, but I have found a “yogurt” I do enjoy (because I miss my greek yogurt).
Did you know kefir is the number one probiotic food? Most people who are dairy-intolerant can drink it. Plus, it has more probiotics than a pill.
You can shake it, mix it, eat it, blend it. Try adding it to your morning smoothy!
Here’s the one product that I absolutely fell in love with. Being a textural person, I miss cottage cheese and the feeling of eating yogurt. THIS, solved both. Check out Lifeway for their Farmer Cheese cups! The pomegranate raspberry is the real deal!
3. Coconut Oil
Now there is a lot of controversy over coconut oil. The one thing I do know is that it can help to rebuild your gut. So if you’re someone who isn’t a fan of the items above or working on that Keto diet, this one is for you.
Coconut oil has anti-microbrials that fight bad bacteria. The healthy fatty acids are there to help rebuild your damaged gut and satiates and nourishes.
Well, there you have it, a healthy gut, leads to a healthy butt.
