It’s time to get poppin’!
You can air pop it, microwave it, cover it in caramel and butter, make it sweet or savory, the possibilities are endless.
Not only is it a low calorie snack (when air popped or not loaded with sugar) but it is easily found everywhere.
So what’s the problem, why are we popping?
With grain free diets and corn allergies a lot of people are looking for alternatives for this “healthy” snack.
In short, popcorn nutritional value, but mostly from fiber. Corn can also do some damage on your gut and digestive system.
Like most grains, corn contains prolamins, a protein our body cannot properly break down, and can cause leaky gut and bad bacteria to grow in your gut.
Now we aren’t saying you shouldn’t eat corn, but maybe take into consideration some alternatives to this sweet or salty snack.
Can you pop anything else? Why yes you can! Say hello to Sorghum and Lotus Seeds!
Look at that squash!
It’s fall and winter squash is here! ’Tis the season of the basic veggies!
Let us not squash all of the other delicious vegetables that come about during the fall season. However, I want to discuss our favorites in the gourds.
So what’s so great about winter squash anyways? Not only does it have amazing health benefits, it fits into pretty much any diet or healthy lifestyle of eating! Did we forget to also mention how versatile it is when it comes to recipes and cooking?! YUP!
So let’s start with the most important thing, WHAT IS A WINTER SQUASH?!
You either love it or you hate it. For most of us, it’s what gets us out of bed in the morning, keeps us going throughout the day, or even helps to get things moving (if you know what I mean).
